Libby Hammer, Jessie Gordon and Ali Bodycoat: UNESCO International Jazz Day
Sunday 30 April 7.00pm
Libby Hammer, Jessie Gordon and Ali Bodycoat, AKA The Queens Of The Jazz Age are a homespun trio of Perth-prized jazz singers, serving up a swingin’ selection of three-part-harmony tunes.
Accompanied by a posse of their incredibly artful, up-to-snuff musical comrades, these three amazing women combine their multi-award winning solo talents and dish out a night of sublime blended harmonies.
From boisterous big band rearrangements to knock out a capella wonders, The Queens Of The Jazz Age travel from the standard to the strange with some seriously adorable ‘shoo be doop’ songs in between.
Take a first-class trip through the jazz age – served lightly, not to be taken too seriously, all fun intended!
Libby Hammer is a performer whose talents know no bounds. She can sing, dance, juggle, act, clown and make a mean cup of tea, all at the same time. She is Perth’s own resident jazz dive, a multiple WAMI award winner and recipient of the WA Children’s Event Fringe World Award for her 2017 original music show Crazy Hat Day.
Jessie Gordon is a very sun-shy redhead who enjoys dirty jazz and even dirtier martinis. She has toured through Europe, South East Asia and Australia and is an eight-time Fringe World Award winner. Jessie brings to the stage her passion for harmony singing, solo dancing and joyful performing.
Ali Bodycoat is Perth’s femme fatale. This year saw Ali take home the Fringe World WA Cabaret Award for her show Minor Major Marlene. With several solo shows under her belt as well as a 17-year jazz residency at the Subiaco Hotel, Ali is one of Perth’s most respected performers.
Together, Libby, Jessie and Ali are the Queens of the Jazz Age. Their repertoire ranges from rearranged famous big band tunes to glorious a cappella arrangements with some seriously adorable ‘shoo be doop’ songs in between.
