An unforgettable night of hot 50s blues and gospel
3 incredible female singers share their passion for this exciting music, bringing to life the songs of extraordinary vocalists, from the hot blues of Big Mama Thornton to the rockin’ gospel of Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Backed by one of Perth’s exciting bands “Bang Bang Betty and the H-Bombs”, shut your eyes and you’ll swear you were back in the early 50s.
There really will be a “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On” tonight!
JUMP SISTER JUMP was first unveiled at FringeWorld last year, with sold-out performances at The Ellington. This special, expanded “encore” version is not to be missed!
The band are amazing… with three incredible vocalists taking the spotlight for different tracks and backing each other up seamlessly. The energetic and uplifting atmosphere was like a gospel church, praising the spirit of the blues and the women who made them so great. There were whoops, hollerin’, hands clappin’, feet tappin’ and more, as Bang Bang Betty and guests led the communion in a swingin’, singin’ celebration! X-Press magazine
The singers:
Coo Jarvis – aka “Bang Bang Betty” is Perth’s very own Miss Dynamite. A captivating performer, Coo and her band have performed headline sets at the Eastern States festival “Cooly Rocks On” & “Jivers Stomp” (Tokyo) and recently launched their 3rd record “Fatal Attraction”.
Peta Lee is most often heard belting out 50s R&B with Perth’s long-running jump blues outfit the “Vibrolators”. A powerful voice that really does justice to epic singers like Big Mama Thornton.
Randa Khamis fronts her own, knockout band “Randa & the Soul Kingdom”. A dynamic vocalist and vivacious performer, with a passion for soulful and swinging sounds.
The band:
Featuring accomplished and entertaining musicians from popular outfits like Milford Street Shakers, the “H-Bombs” are far more than a great backing band. The exciting sound of Andy Jarvis (guitar), Mark Sprogowski (tenor sax), Coo Jarvis (piano), Marc Gordon (double bass) and Dom D’Leno (drums) make Bang Bang Betty & the H-Bombs an absolute dance-floor treat!
“with an all-original flair at their core, this electrifying band rewinds the clocks, rejuvenating the golden era of rhythm and blues, with a fantastic tip of the hat to the 50s” Aldora Britain Records review
