Brown and Roach, both highly influential in their own right, came together over a period of three years to lead the Clifford Brown and Max Roach Quintet. Releasing four studio albums, the group became one of the most important of the bop era, defining the genre’s sound for decades to come. At this tribute, expect to hear fresh and fiery versions of classic tracks like Sandu and Joy Spring, as well as the deep cuts that made the quintet so special. This is a must-see show for lovers of classic jazz!
Trumpeter Matt Knight and drummer Ben Shelley are two of Perth’s finest young musical talents, sharing a passion for jazz in all its forms. Joining them are Oliver Taylor on tenor saxophone, Bob Tweedie on piano and Cass Evans-Ocharern on bass.
