It’s rock-a-billy versus the blues – Round 2!
The Rough Housers and The Handsome Fellows are battling it out one more time to find out once & for all which music style will reign supreme. Will Kat Kinley and her handsome menfolk prevail, or will Kieran Murphy and his rough housing gents smash the appluse-o-meter? Either way, these two bands will get your hearts apumpin’ and your feet astompin’ playing the kind of music you want to hear from some of the best musicians this side of the county!
So if you want to find out how it all ends, there’s only one way in– Ellington, Wednesday 10 September.
THE ROUGH HOUSERS
Kieran Murphy – Drums, lead vocals
Jason Smith – Lead guitar, vocals
Shaun Street – Double bass, vocals
As underground music styles go, not many incite the passion and fervour of fans quite like rockabilly – the country and rock ‘n’ roll hybrid that kicked off the careers of luminaries like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Eddie Cochran. And as the style makes its revival, WA’s own The Rough Housers are out to make their mark – one whiskey bar at a time. The Rough Housers perform an energetic mix of their own songs interspersed with classics and deep cuts from diverse artists including Johnny Cash, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Motörhead!
KAT KINLEY & THE HANDSOME FELLOWS
Kat Kinley –Lead vocals, Keyboards
Jason Smith – Lead guitar
Mark Donohue – Double bass, vocals
Yugon Chobanoff – Drums
Kat Kinley & the Handsome Fellows love to play the blues. And as the blues can vary from swamp to Texas, gospel to Memphis, Kat and her handsome fellows will play it all to find the dancer and the soul searcher in all of us! KK and the HF bring heart, passion and serious chops to their live shows, and with distinguished careers in their own right, this band really knows how to showcase their love of all things blues. It’s live music, the handsome way.
