The Perth Jazz Society invites you to the next instalment in their acclaimed Classic Albums series – a live performance of one of the most iconic jazz recordings of all time, Getz/Gilberto.
Released in 1964, Getz/Gilberto brought the smooth sounds of Brazilian bossa nova to the world stage, pairing the lyrical saxophone of American jazz legend Stan Getz with the understated genius of Brazilian guitarist and vocalist João Gilberto. The album also introduced the world to Astrud Gilberto’s unforgettable voice on “The Girl from Ipanema,” a song that would become one of the most recorded in history.
