Danish guitarist and composer Dr. Kristian Borring is cited to be “a guitarist of enormous technical ability who utilizes his considerable gifts thoughtfully and tastefully, a highly accomplished guitarist and composer” (The Jazz Mann). A graduate from both Conservatorium van Amsterdam (2005) and Guildhall School of Music in London (2006), he cemented his name on the UK scene a leader and sideman alike. With multiple acclaimed albums to his name, he has also performed or recorded with numerous names Archie Shepp, Will Vinson, Jim Hart, Fabian Almazan, Tony Kofi, Bruno Heinen, Tommaso Starace, Sarah McKenzie, and many more. Kristian is often described as an understated virtuoso and is recognised for having a “contemporary edge whilst never losing his firm grip on the jazz guitar lexicon… a masterful exposition of jazz guitar” (Bebop Spoken Here).
Kristian’s latest album with his quartet, ‘Out of Nowhere’, received widespread acclaim and was album of the week on both Danish National Radio (DR P8) as well as ABC Jazz Australia. Jazz Views (UK) hailed the album to be “creative contemporary jazz at it’s very best.” He brings the Australian version of his quartet the Ellington, noted to be “jazz at the highest level” in Seesaw Magazine.
