Melbourne-based pianist James O’Brien has rapidly emerged as a rising star of the Australian jazz scene. With a sound that is both inventive and deeply rooted in jazz tradition, James has already shared the stage with luminaries including Kate Ceberano, Dick Oatts, Remy Le Boeuf, Jamie Oehlers, Mat Jodrell, Sam Anning, and Gian Slater.
Throughout his career, James has performed with celebrated ensembles such as the Australian National Jazz Orchestra Youth Big Band, Horizon Art Orchestra, Perth Cabaret Collective, and the WA Jazz Project, to name just a few. He is a frequent performer at festivals and events across the country, with appearances at the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Festival and the Perth International Jazz Festival, among others.
