From the soulful sounds of Benny Goodman’s “Goodbye” to the musical mayhem of Artie Shaw’s “Traffic Jam”, the South Perth Lions Big Band, featuring leader and clarinetist, Phil Hatton, and outstanding singer, Kaylene Mauri, will recreate some of the magnificent music of these two iconic, superstar clarinetists! There will also be a special moment as Phil has arranged some of the famous pieces for four clarinets! This will be a celebration of the clarinet, so clarinetists and clarinet lovers, don’t miss out!
The South Perth Lions Big Band has been performing regularly for eighteen years and performs on the fourth Friday of each month for ballroom dancing. The band has performed three times for the Australian Institute of Dancing’s Annual Championships and has been described by them as “probably Australia’s best ballroom dancing band”. The band members are looking forward to demonstrating their jazz chops at this concert.
