Sarah had just given up flute and was about to give up music entirely before she found her first Ella Fitzgerald album. Her music teacher had encouraged her to start jazz vocal lessons, so Sarah was looking for something to spark her interest in the JB Hifi ‘jazz’ section. She found a blue box set entitled, ‘Ella Fitzgerald GOLD’ featuring all of Ella Fitzgerald’s best recordings and was completely blown away by Ella’s pure yet powerful tone and improvisational ability. Nearly 20 years later, Sarah is still singing the songs that made Ella most famous and would love to share them with you on a very special night with an incredible band.

Whether fronting an 18-piece big band or accompanied by just a pianist, Perth vocalist Sarah Ramsey commands the stage with a warm and inviting presence. Her rich and soulful vocal approach draws influence from a myriad of artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Stevie Nicks – and is best experienced telling her stories through her own compositions and heartfelt interpretations of jazz standards. Sarah has toured both regionally and nationally and is a regular favourite at many of Perth’s premier live music venues including Perth’s Ellington Jazz Club.
