Set 1: Nice to Meet You! Joost Lijbaart (NL) & Harry Mitchell
Expect a boundary-pushing exploration of rhythm and harmony when Dutch drummer Joost Lijbaart and Perth pianist Harry Mitchell first meet. Lijbaart’s vast palette – spanning jazz, modern classical, world traditions, and improvisation – meets Mitchell’s lyrical yet daring pianism. Together, they’ll weave intricate textures and unexpected turns, balancing delicacy and drive in a performance where tradition, invention, and global influences collide.
Set 2: Nice to Meet You! Wolfert Brederode (NL) & Holly Moore (VIC)
Dutch pianist Wolfert Brederode’s poetic lyricism meets Melbourne saxophonist Holly Moore’s bold, dynamic voice. Brederode’s music is marked by poetic lyricism, meditative depth, and chamber-like interplay, while Moore has emerged as a dynamic new voice in Australian jazz – celebrated for her bold compositions, commanding tone, and recent release FLOOD on Namboku Records. Together, they blend European elegance with Australian creativity in a performance of atmosphere, intimacy, and fearless improvisation.
