Following the September release of their debut single, Spaced Out, Pareidolia return to the Ellington stage with their full lineup, including guitarist Chris Kazuki Jones, to celebrate the launch of their debut album. The release represents a significant milestone for the band, marking the beginning of a new chapter as they continue to develop and define their distinctive sound.
Described by Perth’s X-Press Magazine as “shrugging off jazz formalism” with a “fourth-wall-breaking energy,” the band embraces a genre blending approach that explores jazz, hip-hop, soul and funk.
The Pareidolia sound draws on retro influences with contemporary experimentation. Their repertoire features their original compositions alongside a selection of reimagined classics, both shaped by improvisation, a groove-driven approach and a willingness to cross musical boundaries. On stage, Pareidolia deliver a playful, spontaneous performance style that prioritises connection, interaction and audience engagement.
A regular presence at the Ellington Jazz Club, Pareidolia has performed across Perth and in Melbourne, where they received strong interest.
Pareidolia were invited to perform for the launch of the 2024 Perth International Jazz Festival, and for the 2026 PIJF, they open for acclaimed bassist and artist Nik West, marking another milestone in their growing presence within Australia’s contemporary jazz scene.
