A recent WAAPA graduate, Nicky J presents his highly anticipated band, Australis, featuring a selection of his original compositions While studying at WAAPA, Nicky was not only able to graduate with dual streams, a diploma in classical performance and a Jazz Bachelor but was also grateful to be taught by such prestigious Perth Saxophonists such as Matt Styles, Jamie Oehlers, Gemma Farrell and Sean Little.
Nicky has been around the Perth Jazz scene either playing with the prestigious Oz Big Band, FireBug Big Band, Roarshack//Fate, a tour or five with the amazing WAYJO and many other musical endeavours. With influences from sax players like Michael Brecker and Bob Reynolds as well as other groups like kneebody, yellow jackets and megadeth, Nicky has prepared a whole set of original music just for your viewing pleasure.
This night is set to be one filled with fusion, fun and excitement as Nicky is a multi-instrumentalist and will traverse from Saxophone to EWI to electric guitar throughout the gig. Its gonna be an electric night, static is building…
