After completing her Masters studies in New York, Kate Pass returns to Perth and will perform her new compositions with a stellar band.
Kate’s compositions weave together structured forms with moments of daring spontaneity, creating soundscapes that are both meticulously crafted and vibrantly alive. Each piece invites listeners into a unique sonic world where creativity and curiosity take center stage.
Kate has performed at an array of festivals and events in Asia, USA, Canada, Europe and Australia with highlights including The Jazz Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Art, WOMADelaide, Singapore Jazz Festival, Penang Island Jazz Festival and Bern Jazz Festival.
She currently leads her own groups in NYC, and has performed at venues such as The Stone, The Jazz Gallery, Roulette, Le Poisson Rouge, NuBlu and Silvana. Kate has performed and recorded with artists such as Dave Douglas’ ensemble “Alloy,” Akihito Gorai Group, Alex Glass and Maya Cohen Quartet.
Kate has recorded 3 albums with her group “Kohesia Ensemble.” With Kohesia, Kate received the Australian Broadcasting Commission’s Fresh Start Fund, won the West Australian Music Industry’s “Jazz Act of the Year” in 2022 and 2023, Song of The Year in 2022, and the Perth Fringe World Martin Sims Award in 2020.
