Johnny Turner is a 19-year-old Adelaide-based, nationally-awarded musician, composer, arranged, and educator driven by a love of creative, expressive jazz. As a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Johnny aims to balance strong musicianship with a distinctive compositional voice – writing music that is both tasteful and adventurous, and always rooted in authenticity.
Johnny’s debut album titled “The Journey to Come” was released in late 2025, and featured 5 of Adelaide’s most promising young musicians, as well as a feature from nationally-awarded trombonist Thomas Voss. He is fortunate enough to perform at the Ellington with an all-local band, playing Johnny’s original music. The sets will be a mix of music from Johnny’s debut album, and works written more recently.
