4 August 2025 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Ellington Jazz Club

Doors 6pm
Show 7pm

An exciting showcase of what is to come for Perth’s Jazz Scene. In close collaboration, the first time recipients of the Ellington Jazz Club Prize of Equity and Excellence, will explore their musical journeys so far, and anticipate what’s to come, as they continue their degrees at WAAPA.

With full creative license, Isabelle and Brook have specially crafted an evening featuring the works that inspired the early stages of their learning, through to the sounds that are currently shaping their professional careers, as well as debuting their original compositions.

Initially meeting through the WAAPA Young Artists Program, Isabelle and Brook have been collaborating since 2023. Now both in their second year of studying Jazz, having played together in the Artemis Orchestra, the WAAPA Big Band, and most recently with Melissa Aldana in the WAAPA Jazz in the Theatre Performance, they regularly collaborate with a drive to improve together.  While the focus of their degree is on Jazz, both Isabelle and Brook extend their education to other genres.

Brook explores soundtrack writing, as well as performing and recording with contemporary bands and getting lessons from the BRIT award-winning pop band The 1975’s saxophonist John Waugh.

Isabelle stays connected to the classical side of WAAPA with the saxophone ensemble ‘Phone Co.’, recently performing premiere works alongside esteemed Sydney based saxophonist Nick Russinello.

With their synergetic nature, Isabelle and Brook hope to inspire you as much as they inspire each other.
