Join us for an unforgettable night of hot blues, swingin’ R&B and gospel sounds from the 50s!
3 incredible female singers share their passion for this exciting music, bringing to life the songs of extraordinary vocalists! From the rockin’ gospel of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Wynona Carr, to the swinging R&B of Ella Johnson and Ruth Brown, to the hot blues of Big Maybelle, Little Esther and Big Mama Thornton. Backed by one of Perth’s hottest R&B bands “Bang Bang Betty and the H-Bombs”, shut your eyes and you’ll swear you were back in the early 50s.
There really will be a “Whole Lotta Shakin Going On” tonight!
The singers:
Coo Jarvis – aka “Bang Bang Betty” is Perth’s very own Miss Dynamite. A captivating performer, Coo and her band were a feature act at Cooly Rocks On Festival in 2024, toured Japan early this year and have just launched their latest record “Fatal Attraction”.
Peta Lee is most often heard belting out 50s R&B with Perth’s long-running jump blues outfit the “Vibrolators”. A powerful voice that really does justice to epic singers like Ruth Brown.
Randa Khamis fronts her own, knockout band “Randa & the Soul Kingdom”. A dynamic vocalist, with a passion for soulful and swinging sounds.
The band:
Featuring accomplished and entertaining performers, from popular outfits like Milford Street Shakers, the band’s musicianship is matched by their exciting repertoire. Andy Jarvis (guitar), Mark Sprogowski (tenor sax), Coo Jarvis (piano), Marc Gordon (double bass) and Dom D’Leno (drums) make Bang Bang Betty & the H-Bombs – an absolute dance-floor treat!
“with an all-original flair at their core, this electrifying band rewinds the clocks, rejuvenating the golden era of rhythm and blues, with a fantastic tip of the hat to the 50s” Aldora Britain Records review
JUMP SISTER JUMP was unveiled at FringeWorld this year, with sold-out performances at the Ellington Jazz Club. This special, expanded “encore” version is not to be missed!
Fringe show reviews:
The band are amazing… with three incredible vocalists taking the spotlight for different tracks and backing each other up seamlessly. The energetic and uplifting atmosphere was like a gospel church, praising the spirit of the blues and the women who made them so great There were whoops, hollerin’, hands clappin’, feet tappin’ and more, as Bang Bang Betty and guests led the communion in a swingin’, singin’ celebration!
