After two sold-out shows, Sam Nafie (vocals), Harry Mitchell (piano) and Joe Southwell (bass) are back for another trip through Stevie’s catalogue, this time joined by Chris Tarr on drums.
Sam is one of Perth’s most soulful and versatile vocalists, known for his work across R&B, soul and hip-hop. Pianist Harry Mitchell is a multi-award-winning mainstay of the Australian jazz scene, while Chris Tarr is a highly respected drummer with serious credentials and plenty of feel. Bassist Joe Southwell returns from London to hold down the low end and complete the quartet.
The approach remains simple. One of the greatest songbooks in soul music, played with deep grooves and no impersonations or attempts to recreate the records note-for-note. These are songs that are still alive, played by four musicians who know them well enough to have some fun with them.
Expect the hits, a few deep cuts and a band having a very, very good time. No two shows are quite the same…
