In 2026, Phil’s powerful song ‘Lore of the Land’ was awarded the Country category winner at the WAM Song of the Year Awards and was also named Overall Runner-Up, cementing its place as one of the state’s most celebrated songs of the year. Reflecting a stand out year of recognition, ‘On the Rock’ was awarded Contemporary Country Song of the Year at the West Australian Country Music Awards in Boyup Brook.

Phil Walleystack is an award-winning Noongar singer-songwriter, composer and cultural storyteller whose music is deeply inspired by the cultural knowledge, language and traditions of the Whadjuk, Yued, Ballardong and Wardandi peoples of Western Australia.
Blending country, folk, rock and contemporary Aboriginal sounds, Phil creates music that is both powerful and deeply personal. His songs weave together stories of Country, family, identity and belonging, delivered with a rich, soulful voice and an engaging stage presence that effortlessly combines humour, warmth and authenticity.
Having studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA), Phil has built a diverse career as a performer, composer and producer. His composition credits include the original score for the NITV series *Our Medicine* and the soundtrack for the Community Arts Network documentary *Boodjara*, while his music has been performed and celebrated both nationally and internationally.
Phil’s songwriting has received significant acclaim. In 2026, he won the Boyup Brook West Australian Country Music Award for Contemporary Single of the Year for *On the Rock (Ginnunging Bo Chant)* and received a WA Music Song of the Year Award for *Lore of the Land*. He is also an inductee into the City of Cockburn Arts Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Perth NAIDOC Artist of the Year Award, and has received multiple West Australian of the Year nominations for his contribution to arts, culture and community.
Over more than a decade of international touring, Phil has performed throughout Australia, the USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, sharing stories and songs that transcend cultures and connect audiences through honesty, humour and heart.
