For a very special Perth International Jazz Festival performance, local brothers Tommi Flamenco and Norberto Flamenco take to The Ellington Jazz Club stage to share a selection of pieces that highlights their shared love of soul, jazz and funk music. With an age gap that might surprise, their collection of song favourites will range from the timeless sounds of 1960’s all the way to the electronic sounds of the 2020’s to celebrate the beauty of life, the freedom of music and the strength of familial bonds.
Tommi Flamenco is a Western Australian-born bassist (electric, upright, synth) who’s genres span from latin, jazz and funk with modern day influences of pop and classical catalogues and an upbringing of rock that cultivates into a kaleidoscope-of-an-adventure when performing live. Graduating from WAAPA (Bachelor of Music, Jazz) in 2022, Tommi is now seen performing in original projects (Drea, Brightside, Platypus, Blu Flamingo), various tribute acts ranging from salsa y meringue, 90’s R&B/Soul and disco whilst bringing the fierce energy of the jazz fusion sounds of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s to every performance.
Norberto Flamenco is a Perth-Based Hammond Organist and session keyboardist who leads multiple projects in his hometown of Perth (Vib3 Organ Trio, Funk Republic, Norberto Flamenco Organ Quartet). He first discovered his love for the Hammond Organ when he began exploring rock music but quickly adopted it as his sound when he heard the greats such as Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and the many of the modern Hammond greats. You can catch Norberto playing everything from Jazz, Funk, Rock, Pop and Blues but thrives in the element of leading a Hammond Organ trio.
