Award-winning Creole music band Tchéga brings its infectious blend of island rhythms and sunny melodies to The Ellington Jazz Club for a special live performance featuring the band’s original repertoire and some French favourites with a Creole twist.
Led by singer-songwriter Carole Katz, Tchéga’s music is inspired by Carole’s layered heritage and identity with roots in Madagascar, a tropically French upbringing on Reunion Island and adult years in Australia.
This special performance will showcase two sides of Carole’s musical world. The afternoon will feature Tchéga’s originals, including their critically acclaimed songs. The band will also reimagine beloved French classics, infusing them with Creole grooves and island soul. A little bit of Edith Piaf, a little bit of Céline Dion…
Whether you’re discovering Tchéga for the first time or returning for another dose of island sunshine, expect a feel-good afternoon with catchy beats, rich harmonies and a colourful tapestry of sounds that invite you to sing, sway and dance along.
