Direct from the success of her sold-out Fringe World season; A Soul Odyssey, award-winning songstress Shameem brings a brand new show to the Ellington stage. Classic rock, folk and pop songs will receive Shameem’s soul/ jazz fusion twist and will be spat out with lusciously phat R&B flavour. Can you imagine Joni Mitchell, Coldplay and The Police driven by urban beats and soulful vocals? Whatever the answer, here is where you will find out!

Featuring Shameem Taheri-Lee – vocals, Alex Borthwick – guitar, Tommi Flamenco – bass, Pete Evans – drums.

Shameem is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter, fully self-managed and independent. Her latest recording Time Does Not Reverse won the (international) Independent Music Awards Urban EP category, as well as amassing a slew of wins and nominations in the UK Songwriting Contest, USA Songwriting Competition and John Lennon Songwriting Contest. She has supported major international artists such as Michael Bolton, George Benson, Belinda Carlisle and Ronan Keating, and undertaken tours in both her native Australia and in the USA and Canada. Born in Australia to a Chinese-Malaysian father and an Iranian mother, Shameem enchants her audiences with her gripping stage presence, personal and socially conscious lyrics, and powerfully expressive voice. You can expect a highly interactive set with Shameem’s hard-grooving band, oozing funky flavour.
