Doors 6pm
Show 7pm
Jessie Gordon is no stranger to the darker side of jazz. Join her for a thrilling speakeasy adventure featuring the filthiest of vintage tunes and perhaps the occasional original song (keeping with the theme, of course).
This evening there will be more songs about drinking, thinking and dining than you can poke a fairly girthy stick at, and none of them are safe for regular consumption. Jessie will be joined by the incomprehensibly talented Harry Mitchell on piano and the irrepressible Mark Turner on guitar, vocals and saxophone.
Inspired by the legendary Blues Queens of the 1920s, including Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, and Lucille Bogan, Jessie takes us from the roaring ’20s through the decades, celebrating the evolution of blues to swing with classics from Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nina Simone.
