First, step into the nostalgic warmth of A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965), where pianist Vince Guaraldi’s lyrical trio brings the beloved Peanuts holiday special to life. From the tender “Christmas Time Is Here” to the instantly recognizable “Linus and Lucy,” Guaraldi’s cool, melodic touch captures the true spirit of the season – reflective, heartfelt, and timeless.
Then, get ready to swing into the holidays with Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas (1960). Backed by bright holiday arrangements and her trademark vocal brilliance, Ella transforms holiday classics like “Jingle Bells,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “Sleigh Ride” into pure jazz joy.
Together, these two classic albums capture so much of why Christmas and Jazz are inseparable – one soulful and intimate, the other exuberant and full of sparkle. Performed live in their entirety by some of Perth’s finest jazz musicians, this is the perfect way to welcome the festive season.
