Presented by WAAPA and the Ellington Jazz Club, acclaimed Sydney-based trumpeter Tom Avgenicos performs with WAAPA’s rising jazz stars.
With a career marked by critically acclaimed albums, collaborations with Australian jazz greats such as Mike Nock, Paul Grabowsky and Barney McAll, and prestigious accolades including the 2022 Freedman Jazz Fellowship and 2024 Sydney Fringe Festival’s Best in Music and Dance Award, Avgenicos has emerged as a vital voice in the Australian jazz and improvised music scene.
For this special concert, Avgenicos partners with WAAPA’s Jazz students to debut brand-new original works composed in collaboration during his week as artist-in-residence.
