The Perth Jazz Society presents Classic Albums
Come join us for a matinee performance of two of the most famous jazz records to date, brought to life by Perth’s finest jazz musicians. Led by Matt Smith on Trumpet, this performance will feature the Miles Davis’s Iconic Kind of Blue, and John Coltrane’s Blue Train.

More about Matt Smith
Matt Smith is a freelance trumpet player/composer from Perth, Western Australia. Some of Matt’s career highlights include playing alongside the Village Vanguard Orchestra in a workshop at Billboard Records in Tokyo (2016), touring Australia with Drapht and the Junkadelic Brass Band (2016), recording with the Mace Francis Orchestra on the album Love Songs I Love (2017) and No Postcode (2024). In 2023 he released his debut album ‘Driftwood’ at the Perth International Jazz Festival. In September Matt will be moving to London to pursue a Master’s of Music at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama.

The Perth Jazz Society is a non-profit incorporated association. Founded in 1973, the PJS strives to support local jazz musicians, further the interest in and appreciation of jazz, to encourage and assist in the live performance of jazz, and to promote the knowledge of jazz through specific development projects. It has had a long and distinguished history in presenting jazz of the highest quality in Perth, and supporting emerging, established and visiting artists.
