Fringe World Winners from 2024 and 2025, Salama return to The Ellington following their sold out show last year!
Salama is a cosmopolitan collective of Indian ocean natives & other artists of diverse origins that share a passion for Maloya, Reunion Island’s traditional percussion-based music. Maloya has its roots in Reunion’s complex and painful history, and today it’s associated with ancestry, being Creole, and blissful freedom.
Salama is fortunate to be a pioneer in sharing the powerful and magical Maloya in Australia, proudly bringing original musical shows that skilfully blend the traditional and modern while sharing stories of joy and nostalgia.
Join Salama for a vibrant Sunday late afternoon concert at The Ellington Jazz Club — a soulful and rhythmic journey inspired by the music and spirit of the Indian Ocean islands.
This is the perfect way to close out your weekend: colourful, heartwarming music to lift your spirit and warm your soul during the winter months.
Alongside their signature sounds, Salama will also share snippets of their new work in development, offering a rare glimpse into a performance-in-the-making, rich with ancestral rhythms, voice, and movement.
Come for the music, stay for the energy, and let Salama carry you into the evening with joy, connection, and soul.
