Get ready to groove with the electrifying sounds of the Milford Street Shakers, Western Australia’s sensational 11-piece soul ensemble that captures the essence of the swinging 1960s. Back when grand orchestras commanded dance floors and the fusion of gospel, rhythm and blues, and jazz gave birth to some of the most soul-stirring melodies in musical history.

The Milford Street Shakers have been wowing audiences across Perth and Fremantle for years with their electrifying live performances. Their shows at iconic venues such as His Majesty’s Theatre and Quarry Amphitheatre have been hailed as some of the best live music events in Western Australia.

And now, they’re back to take the Ellington Jazz Club by storm with their signature blend of Motown hits and 1960s classics.

Frontwoman Ayla Woodland has recently returned home from a six month stint in London and so the band is extremely excited to be hitting the Ellington stage for their first show of the year.

Expect to be singing along to all your favorite hits, including “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Dancing in the Street,” and “My Girl.” You’ll also be treated to classic soul tunes like “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.”

An ensemble of this caliber isn’t just a small ensemble tucked away in the corner; it’s an entire symphony of sound that envelops you. With Ayla Woodland at the helm and her world-class companions, including an assortment of dazzling instrumentalists, the Milford Street Shakers create awe-inspiring renditions of timeless soul and Motown classics. These renditions are so infectious that staying still becomes a near impossibility – the urge to dance and revel in the joyous beats is simply irresistible.

Make no mistake, this isn’t background music – it’s get-up-and-dance music.
