This is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with members from The Sam Anning Septet in a one-off masterclass at The Ellington. 

Comprising of some of Australia’s finest improvisor/educators, this masterclass will be an invaluable educational resource and inspiration to anyone interested in the process behind composition, band-leading, improvisational approach, the wider Australian jazz scene, gender diversity in jazz, anyone interested in studying nationally and/or  internationally. 

The group includes graduates from Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, WAAPA, VCA, and University of Adelaide. Andrea Keller is the head of Jazz and Improvisation at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where Sam Anning, Mat Jodrell, Theo Carbo, Julien Wilson and Carl Mackey are also on faculty.

They will perform, discuss, and answer questions from the audience.
