The Ellington’s 15th Birthday Festival 1st – 3rd March 2024
Major Swing Project explores a modern variant of the 1930s Manouche inspired gypsy sound. Their music is heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, whilst drawing inspiration from traditional jazz, folk and the music of Edith Piaf, all melded together with a European gypsy flavour. Music becomes sculpture.
Each member of the group has toured extensively, earning rapport and regard within both the local and international music community. Their international experience coupled with the rich musical heritage of their Israeli and German band members, brings a global sound to this locally based ensemble.

On this very weekend in 2009, The Ellington Jazz Club opened it’s doors for the first time. Those doors have stayed open seven nights a week, for fifteen years since! We’re celebrating this milestone with a three day festival showcasing our diverse and vibrant Jazz scene, in honour of the late Graham Wood, the club’s co-founder. Please join us to celebrate the beating heart of Perth’s Jazz community, to commemorate the rich history of The Ellington Jazz Club and to toast to it’s bright future!
