Interplay is a five piece jazz combo featuring the vocal talents of Leah Guelfi and an experienced line-up of musicians. They perform a varied repertoire from swing and latin standards through to contemporary tunes with an emphasis on original, updated arrangements.
The repertoire includes up tempo songs such as It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) Deed I Do and On Green Dolphin Street, ballads such as Since I Fell For You, God Bless The Child and Sophisticated Lady, blues songs such as I Put A Spell On You, Work Song and I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues and reworkings of latin and funk pieces such as Tin Tin Deo, Night and Day and Tune 88 plus some original compositions are featured also.
Each musician brings many years of playing experience both as soloists and in a supportive role keeping the music tight, spontaneous and swinging.
It’s a pleasure to once again feature the wonderful singing of Leah Guelfi with the band, her passion and sensitivity on ballads or bossa novas and powerful yet melodic delivery on uptempo swing numbers is a joy to hear!
