In an Ellington exclusive, Melbourne-based singer songwriter Grace Woodroofe returns to the Ellington Jazz Club stage to preview her new album for the very first time.
The Ellington audience will be the first to hear all of the new material and stories behind them in an up close and intimate show exclusively prepared for her hometown of Perth.
After navigating what has been a transformative 12 months as a creative, 2023 saw the artist reclaim and redefine herself as a musician and wordsmith.
The forthcoming album was constructed as a way to work through the trauma of a past relationship and sees Woodroofe break apart this abusive period of her life, intertwined with a partner who played a major role in her decision to retreat from the public eye at a time where her career was on the precipice of a particular apex of success.
In returning to her first love of songwriting and poetry, Woodroofe made her return as an artist in 2023 with the release of ‘Beginning,’ ‘You Call That Love?’ and ‘All Or Nothing’ – all defining moments that heralded a new avenue of expression for the talented artist. After spending time away, she fell back in love with her artistry. Releasing music under her own name has meant that Grace Woodroofe now commands her own space with confidence.
Since the releases of new music, Woodroofe has also made her return to live performances. 2023 saw her support longtime friend and mentor Ben Harper on his Australian tour, which then turned into an opportunity to join him on the road in Europe. A fulfilling experience, Woodroofe returned to Australia energised and excited for the nature of evolution still ahead.
Don’t miss this intimate and exciting chance to hear Woodroofe’s forthcoming album live for the first time.
