Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn are some of the most celebrated composers in the history of Jazz. Together they have contributed immensely to the jazz repertoire, writing hard-swinging classics like “Take the A Train” and  ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing” as well as heartfelt ballads like ‘Sophisticated Lady” and “Lush Life”.

Join saxophonist Oliver Taylor and some of Perth’s finest Jazz musicians as they pay homage to these titans of Jazz. Performing regularly in the Perth Jazz scene, Taylor and his band combine their love of jazz and improvisation with their Innate musical connections to present a night of music you won’t want to miss out on. Expect the classics as well as some of Ellington and Strayhorn’s’ hidden treasures.

Oliver Taylor is a saxophonist and composer born and raised in Perth. With a refined sound and an idiosyncratic approach to improvisation, Oliver is a regular face in the jazz and contemporary music scene in Perth, performing with the likes of the Perth Cabaret Collective, Storefront and Bad Neighbour among others. He graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with Honours and was the recipient for the best honours recital for 2022.
