Songs and Ballads inspired by the master of cool. Chet Baker’s influence as an icon of emotional vulnerability emerged in the 1950s at a time when many male characters in the performing arts were portrayed as hyper-macho. Along with actors like James Dean, Baker’s vocal style coupled with his lyricism on the trumpet was a radical departure from these stereotypes. Often coined “The James Dean of Jazz”, Chet Baker’s style has influenced many since with his cool, understated approach that, weaves webs through our hearts with melancholic melodies and smooth, smoky tones.

Vocals by the incomparable Justin Everett (USA/AU) and trumpet melodies interpreted by Adrian Hicks on an original 1946 ‘Martin Committee’ (the iconic trumpet brand that was played by many Bop and Cool Jazz artists such as Chet, Dizzy and Miles) this performance is for the romantic at heart. Joined by an eclectic mix of talented artists from multiple generations, each with their own story to tell. An exploration of standards, ballads and tunes that have stood the test of time and continue to inspire today’s music.
