Wyvern Big Band - Celebrating 25 Years
Tuesday 03 August 7.00pm
Live music is BACK … and so are we … at the only venue we know to do it best.
Wyvern Big Band at the Ellington.
This isn’t just any other gig. Tonight, we celebrate 25 Years of Wyvern Big Band. Formed in 1996 under the direction of Neville Bird, Neville wanted to bring together as many Ex-Wesleyans to form a 17-Piece Big Band. Over the past quarter century, the band has performed at venues all over Perth, a highlight always being getting on stage at The Ellington Jazz Club.
It just feels right … small room … tight stage … good food … good booze … and the best part of it all is that we get to do it all in front of a live crowd. No live stream, no Zoom call … just the good old feeling of having a big band play your favourite jazz charts such as ‘Theme from New York, New York’, and ‘Moanin’’, as well as well as vocal classics ‘Mack the Knife’ (Bobby Darin) and ‘Fever’ (Peggy Lee), all with the saxophones right in front of your face (literally!)
So let’s not waste any time shall we.
You know how it’s gonna go.
Let’s have some fun.
Book your tickets NOW because this WILL sell out.
