The Namora Nonet

Wednesday 25 August 7.00pm

The Namora Nonet is an all female nonet that exclusively plays arrangements and compositions by Australians of marginalised genders. The group includes experienced Perth band leaders, Gemma Farrell on tenor saxophone, Kate Pass on Bass and Talya Valenti on the drums, recent WAAPA graduates Jemima Mills on Baritone Saxophone and Claire Keet on Alto Saxophone, WAAPA students Julia Wallace on Trumpet, Kirsten Symszysz on Piano and Sarah Curran on Guitar, and WAYJO member Holli Hatherley on Trombone. Their debut performance was at the Perth International Jazz Festival 2020 and this exciting performance at the Ellington will be their second. They will perform music by Farrell, Keet, Pass, Symczycz, Wallace and Valenti, as well as music by Alana Macpherson, Jenna Cave, Alex Silver and Cheryl Durongpisitkul.
