SIMmering Big Band with Bron Sprogowski and Jazz Stars of the Future

After performances including with Michael Bublés  - Nick Vayenas, Xmas Jazz community events and a sell out gig at the ellington in 2020, the Simmering Big Band is playing its next gig at the Ellington on August 17th.
The band comprises 18 Education Dept teachers who have a love of jazz, improvising and big band music and supporting the up and coming jazz players.
Many of the band members are well established in the WA Jazz scene and regulars at the Ellington. They include Benn Hodgkin, Adrian Hicks, Greg Brenton, Simon Jeans, Bron and Mark Sprogowski, Grant Rickman, Steve Searle and Simon Styles.
The band’s material includes Nestico, Count Basie, The Phatt Band and many vocal styles from our gifted singer Bronwyn Sprogowski.
The Simmering Big Band also has a strong education profile too thanks to support from our Director General and our Department Head, Bruce Herriman – a WAYJO original and their night at the Ellington will feature young jazz players representing the jazz stars of tomorrow.
The band and the Ellington program has been put together by Simon Styles a WAYJO original, Wangaratta Jazz Finalist, Jazz Yatra performer who has played with Don Burrows, James Morrison, Toshiko Akyoshi, Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl, Ray Charles and supported David Sanborn on his Australian Tour.

Table restricted view refers to a few table places which have sight line issues across the grand piano, but allow seated table entry.
