Over the past 25 years Robbie Avenaim has combined traditional and extended techniques with physical modification of the Drums. Modifications have included extending use of the instrument’s, various motorized percussive mechanisms, and amplification and in so doing, provide greater scope for both composing and performing. As a musician /composer / instrument builder, The design of new instruments is anintegral part of the compositional process.
Alan Lamb’s work involves the exploration of sound structures, neither musically "designed" nor of random occurrence. Such structures possess the properties of beauty, complexity and evocation of the emotional, the spiritual and the imaginary. Alan uses Aeolian sound usually generated by long wires (e.g. telegraph wires) which are manipulated using mechanical devices to change parameters of the system.
Established in 1999, Tura New Music’s Club Zho presents new music works by Western Australian and visiting composers / performers across a broad range of practice, including electronica, chamber, free improv, noise … with a blend of established and emerging artists.
Club Zho 2009 is presented in association with Meupe and The Ellington Jazz Club.
