Penny King ‘Songs of the moon the devil and the night'
Saturday, 2nd October @11:00 PM

Penny is well known in the Perth scene for her well crafted stage presence, and her diverse takes on jazz standards. A regular performer at the Ellington, her sets range from ballads to twists on contemporary classics and hard swinging favourites.

Penny has been a featured vocalist with the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, and has made numerous appearances at the Perth Jazz Society, both with her own quartet, as well as being a featured performer at the annual ‘Ladies of Jazz’ concerts. She has appeared at the Rottnest Festival, the York Jazz Festival, and the Fremantle International Jazz Festival.

A graduate of   WAAPA, Penny currently teaches jazz vocals both privately and in the jazz programme at WAAPA.

‘Songs of the moon, the devil and the night’ will feature an evening of after dark treats, paying tribute to greats such as 'Moon River', 'Night and Day', 'Round Midnight', 'Devil May Care', the odd original thrown in, as well as some surprises along the way.  With special guest band featuring Glyn Macdonald on piano, Matt Willis on bass, Ben Falle on drums and Jamie Oehlers on saxophone, it is sure to be a night not to miss.
