The Antripodean Collective
Sunday, 17th October @5:30 PM

Scott Tinkler (trumpet), John Rodgers (violin), Ken Edie (drums) and Marc Hannaford (piano) are the Antripodean Collective.

Following on from their lauded debut release, “Funcall” (xtr066) and east coast tour in 2008, the group is undertaking a Sound Travelers national tour in October, 2010 to promote their upcoming album: “NTRPDN”
(marchon01).

Featuring four of Australia’s most acclaimed improvisers; the Antripodean Collective creates unique and powerful improvised music. While the group draws inspiration from artists such as American composer Elliott Carter and South Indian Carnactic master Guru Karaikkudi R Mani, the group has been cited internationally as a group creating original, improvised music that places Australia firmly on the map of acoustic, instrumental contemporary improvisation.

Performing music that is thoroughly engaging in it’s immediacy, conviction and integrity, the Antripodean Collective is a group that has an unmistakable and unique identity.

The group will also be spending two weeks at the Arthur Boyd cottage in Bundanon, NSW in preparation for these performances.

“One of the best releases of 2008”
Lawrence Donahue‐Greene, allaboutjazz.com, New York

“Relinquishing dissonant pyrotechnics in favor of carefully placed eventdriven moments, the group nods toward the AACM's spatial framework while still managing to carve out its own place in the improvisational
landscape.”

Henry Smite, allaboutjazz.com
