The Twenty-Four Special - Nick Abbey and Ben Falle
Tuesday, 14th September @11:00 PM

Nick Abbey and Ben Falle are regular performers on The Ellington stage, and tonight will provide a unique opportunity to see the pair performing their original music as co-bandleaders. Joined by Carl Mackey on saxophones and Tom O’Halloran on piano, this quartet will present an exciting and diverse repertoire, drawing from their common influences and crossing a range of styles.

Since graduating from WAAPA in 2008, Nick Abbey has become one of Australia’s leading young bassists. He has recently returned from a successful national tour with the Jamie Oehlers Quartet, features regularly at the Ellington with the Graham Wood Trio, and has performed with the likes of George Garzone (USA), John Scofield (USA), and Paul Grabowsky (Melbourne).

Ben Falle completed his Bachelor of Music at WAAPA in 2005, aged 19, and went on to win Australia’s Best Up & Coming Drummer Competition in 2007. Since then, he has enhanced his national reputation in both the jazz and contemporary music scenes. Ben performs regularly throughout Perth, and has performed with national and international artists including Jeremy Gregory (LA), Marilyn Crispell (USA), Joe Chindamo (Melbourne), Gary Pinto (Melbourne) and Aaron Choulai (Japan).

The pair are also members of the award-winning Johannes Luebbers Dectet. They have recently finished recording the group’s second album, and will appear at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival later in the year.

On the following drop down menu choose either table or bar. Table is seated, bar is standing. On busy nights small parties (1-3 people) share at the table. We have a range of tables that seat between 2-6 people.

You need to book one ticket per person, not the number of tables, so change the box which defaults to “1” to the number of people you are paying for. We will organise the tables according the number of people you book for.

If you have a group coming together but paying separately, nominate a group leader, and in the “comments” section of the online booking form, as the leader books, he/she tells us how many places to save, then the others paying independently put, for example, “Jane’s table” in the comments section of the online order form. This way we can be sure to seat your party all together. If you are coming singly or as a group and want to join another group, also tell us in the “comments” section.
