Song Lounge, WA's exciting Singer Songwriter showcase, has a different feel in August: beatboxing, backing tracks and RnB are a flavour we've not had before mixed with the incredibly high standard of acoustic singer songwriters we've come to expect from Song Lounge...
Four very different and remarkably exciting singers take to the stage in August. Three are gracing the Song Lounge stage for the first time and the wonderful Michael Swann returns after making his impressive debut in June. Having seen each of them perform live, North Street Music recommends this show as an incredible opportunity to be very surprised and delighted from the quality of these four artists, offering their unique brand of singer songwriting.
Kirsty Keogh
Kirsty Keogh is a talented & dynamic musician with a distinct style & flavour, who performs regularly in solo, duo, and ensemble acts. She is a dedicated performer who is known for her rhythmic feel & soulful yet ‘folky’ vocal tone. Kirsty’s flair for guitar combined with her vocal talent, creates a unique musical experience that captivates all.
Matt Allen

Matt Allen has been honing his music skills since the age of 10. Upon acceptance into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2004, he has continued to develop as a singer/songwriter and is currently completing an 8 track original work which he will heavily pursue in the coming months. Having worked with every major agency in Perth including North Street Music, Slim Jim Enterprises, VIP Entertainment, BBC Entertainment, Spirit Productions & Vogue Entertainment playing at some of the biggest events including: Support Act for Rolf Harris, turning on of Christmas Lights Forrest Chase, closing ceremony of the "Johnnie Walker Golf Classic" & the OZConcert. Matt is a versatile, soulful singer with years of experience.
Minky G

Minky G is a jazz/pop/roots musician with a passion for song-writing and Marvin Gaye style backing vocals. Despite being a long time singer and piano player, she only discovered guitar aged 19, and hasn’t put one down since! Following a stint at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, she is now playing regular solo gigs at The Llama Bar, X-Wray Cafe and The Left Bank, and has recently competed in the Next Big Thing Competition with her band Minky G and the Effects. As a songwriter, she combines a love of literature with a Paul McCartney/Neil Finn flavour, to create some poppy, catchy tunes. Local press Fasterlouder have desribed her as “Chirpy... with a clever use of jazz chords and some good old fashioned scatting!” Tonight, she’ll be performing with Accumulated Gestures frontman and Ellington regular Donovan de Souza, on beatboxing and backing vocals.

Michael has an accomplished musical history, playing in groups that has seen him tour with Neil Finn, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and share the stage with various bands including Birds of Tokyo and Regurgitator.
After a year of kicking ideas around for his vocal driven solo project, he has gone into the studio to record the debut EP, 'Little Red Riding', showcasing the innovative and honest music that has come from a wealth of influences. Many of the songs from this impressive EP will be performed at Song Lounge. Unmissable!
