Penny King and The Tom Ohalloran Trio

Penny reunites with Tom O’Halloran for an exciting night of music at the Ellington.
Penny is well known in the Perth scene for her well crafted stage presence, solid phrasing and diverse takes on jazz standards. A regular performer at the Ellington, her sets range from ballads to twists on contemporary classics and hard swinging favourites.
Penny has been a featured vocalist with the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, and has made numerous appearances at the Perth Jazz Society, both with her own quartet, as well as being a featured performer at the annual ‘Ladies of Jazz’ concerts. She has appeared at the Rottnest Festival, the York Jazz Festival, and the Fremantle International Jazz Festival.
A graduate of WAAPA, Penny is currently teaching jazz vocals both privately and in the jazz programme at WAAPA.
This performance also features Pete Jeavons on double bass, Carl Mackey on saxes and Ben Vanderwal on drums. The quintet will be taking a trip down memory lane with some well loved tunes that Penny loves to play with Tom, as well as paying tribute to some of Penny’s favourite vocal trio and piano trio repertoire.
