Ingrid James and Trudy Kerr
Friday, 6th August @8:00PM

INGRID JAMES (BRISBANE) & TRUDY KERR (UK) – CD ‘REUNION’
featuring Tom O’Halloran (piano); Pete Jeavons (bass) & Ben Vanderwal (drums)

“REUNION brings vocalists Trudy Kerr and Ingrid James together, displaying exceptional interpretation
and musicianship.  They deliver an eclectic selection of jazz, latin and folk songs by composers such as
Chick Corea, Bob Dorough, Baden Powell and Carole King.  With afresh approach, they bring new life to the
songs and they sing them together as a duet should be sung, yet each of them having room to shine.  [It’s] a
CD you’ll want to revisit over and over again. I love it!”  Anita Wardell, London

Both from Brisbane, Australia, jazz vocalists Trudy Kerr and Ingrid James first performed together 20 years ago on the Queensland Club circuit.  Trudy moved to London to pursue a jazz career while Ingrid kept Brisbane as her homebase while performing in Australia and internationally, both have received recognition and respect for their jazz singing and as jazz educators.

Jazz has always been at the heart of their friendship, and in July 09, while Ingrid was visiting the UK the album REUNION was recorded. Trudy and Ingrid were joined on the recording by a brilliant band of UK musicians. Tom Cawley (piano), Geoff Gascoyne (bass) and Seb de Krom (drums).

The album is an engaging mix of material  - UN POCO LOCO by Bud Powell, with lyrics by Trudy and Ingrid;  Gerry Mulligan’s SOFT SHOE where the girls take the baritone and trumpet line as well as a jointly penned vocalese; Chick Corea’s YOU'RE EVERYTHING given a 3/4 treatment; Neal Hefti’s GIRL TALK, very fitting and a reharmonised version of WALTZING MATILDA are a few of the tracks on REUNION.
Trudy and Ingrid are two distinctively different singers.  The stand out feature on the album REUNION is their stunning harmonies and the seamless blend of their voices whether singing in unison or improvising melodic lines.

The live tour around Australia in July/August and the UK in September/October in 2010 will showcase this exciting new album giving Trudy and Ingrid an opportunity to share their mutual love of jazz with audiences around the world.
