Jonathan Paget
Jonathan Paget is a guitarist and senior lecturer at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, ECU. A Fulbright and Hackett scholarship recipient, he has studied extensively in the USA, earning the Doctorate of Musical Arts. Jonathan has won prizes in numerous international competitions, performed with leading musicians such as Slava Grigoryan and Pavarotti, and has appeared at such festivals as the Darwin International Guitar Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, and Festival Baroque. Paget’s second solo CD recording, “Midsummer’s Night,” was recently released on the Move Records label and has received extensive airplay on ABC classic FM. The West Australian has extolled his “near-peerless command of the instrument,” while others describe him as “a fine musician with brilliant technique” [Soundboard, USA], “up there with some of the best” [Classical Guitar, UK].
Adrian Kelly
"Q" Brass Quintet with Adrian Kelly
Q is a brass quintet made up of some of Perth's best studio and session musicians. As a special treat for Chamber Jam audiences, Q will present a programme of jazz standards in new arrangements by local arrangers.
Matt Styles
Matt Syles is a highly talented perth-based multi instrumentalist. His strength on numerous instruments from woodwinds to saxophones has seen him in demand for major shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, to the inspiration and mentor behind the young saxophone quartet “Just Sax” who have appeared at Chamber Jam twice to wide acclaim.
Matt is also the front man of the group Scope: Scope brings together some of the leading jazz-trained musicians in Australia. Their performances to date including opening War of the Roses at the Perth International Arts Festival, supporting Human Nature at Kings Park, and a performance at The Ellington jazz club recorded by ABC fm JazzTrack.
Matt enjoys performing music from any genre, and whilst classical and jazz are his main focus, he can regularly be heard playing under the influence of African, Latin American, and funk music. His promises to be a lively set not to be missed.
LOUISE MCKAY
Australian cellist Louise McKay, has recently become a member of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and is the founding principal cellist of Los Angeles-based contemporary music collective "wild Up". She is also the principal cellist in the Colburn Orchestra and serves as a casual musician with the Western Australian, Adelaide and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras.
Louise has received numerous scholarships and awards that have allowed her to travel to festivals, competitions and master classes worldwide, including the 2006 Prague Spring International Music Competition. She won First Prize in the Geelong Advertiser Music Competition, Second Prize in the Australian Concerto Competition and her performances were honoured by Recitals Australia in 2005 and 2007. Her performances in the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Arts Centre were described as "simply beautiful" and "truly captivating" (ArtsHub Australia).
