Seamie O'Dowd and Aminah Hughes
Sunday, 21st February @9:00PM

By the age of eighteen, Seamie O’Dowd was a multi-instrumentalist, having mastered the guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo, bodhran and fiddle and gained a reputation as a singer. One of Ireland’s finest musicians, he toured the world with Irish Traditional band Dervish, for whom he invented a tuning for the guitar that became a hallmark of the band’s sound for the next six years. He has collaborated with renowned musicians the world over, including Mairtin O’Connor, Matt Molloy and Californian harmonica virtuoso Rick Epping, and recently toured Europe with Tommy Emmanuel.

A consummate solo performer, Seamie astounds audiences with his eclectic blend of blues, Appalachian, folk and traditional Irish styles and is a noted favourite at the annual Rory Gallagher festival in County Donegal.

Aminah Hughes is a singer, songwriter, spoken word artist and poet whose voice was once described by Thom Moore (USA) as one that “will haunt you until you are dead.” An invited performer at events around Australia, she has supported Aussie rock legend Robert James and Canada’s The Wailin’ Jennys, shared the stage with Jimmy Little, GANGgajang and the Sydney Youth Orchestra and recently supported The Unwanted on a wee tour of Ireland. A passionate storyteller, she weaves political potency with a warm gentleness that will leave you feeling held.

Seamie and Aminah’s growing musical alliance has been pleasing audiences on both sides of the waves. Join them on a journey of ethereal Irish, soothing folk and rockin’ blues.
