Victoria Newton presents Watercolours of
Brazil
Thursday, 18th February @8:30PM

An enchanting night of music where cool jazz meets the tropical sounds of samba, bossa nova and beyond.
Songs by some of Brazil's most loved artists, including Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Sergio
Mendes, Seu Jorge, Djavan, Joyce and Ary Barroso.
Victoria Newton is one of the best loved and most highly respected singers on the London jazz scene. She’s thrilled to now be spending some time back in Perth, her
home city. Her unique style combines her two loves – jazz and Brazilian music. Victoria has delighted audiences worldwide with her effervescence and brilliant musicianship. The
last year or so has seen her perform with the Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, sing Brazilian standards on a ship sailing up the Amazon and bring in the New Year to royalty in Kuala
Lumpur.
She’s topped the bill at all the major London jazz venues and been a favourite at concerts and festivals throughout Europe. Victoria has also shared a stage with
such greats as Dionne Warwick, James Moody, Ray Charles and the Spice Girls!
The mid 1990s saw Victoria top the charts as a Dance Diva, with the group Strike and their hit “U Sure Do”. This led to her appearing on MTV and the BBC’s Top of the Pops, and touring throughout the world. She has also released solo albums, including her jazz CD The Song is You in 2004.
