GRACE WOODROOFE

Grace Woodroofe is a blues inspired singer-songwriter from Perth who first attracted the attention of the music world after being snappled by the late Heath Ledger three years ago and thrust into the Los Angeles musical community. There, in soft light among attentive crowds, Grace announced with deep, smoky tones, a presence which transcends time had arrived, a precocious chanteuse delivering with pure honesty the eternally complex matters of the heart. It was a voice, profound and austere beyond its years.

L.A Weekly reviewed her debut show stating it as “a pretty incredible statement of purpose” describing Grace as “powerful, dynamic and striking”. Producer of her yet to be released debut album Ben Harper enthuses “She’s 19 years old and she’s one of the most exceptional singer-songwriter musicians I’ve ever heard. She’s astonishing – and I don’t use that word but maybe once a decade.”

After recently returning from a tour with Harper, Grace brings that voice to the Ellington stage in one of her few Perth shows before leaving for the road again. Joined by the Graham Wood trio and special guest Kyna Ho.
