WAMI Jazz Celebration Night

The Western Australian Music Industry festival night celebrates the best of the best in the industry. Tonight will feature music from 2014 Bell award winner Allira Wilson, 2014 WAM jazz song of the year winner, TRISK and WAM nominee Luke Minness and his quartet “Minness4tet”
TRISK takes influence from genres as diverse as hip-hop, jazz, rock, pop, folk, R&B, and world music. Fuelled by their fiery musical rapport, TRISK presents high-energy and spontaneous performances featuring original compositions and imaginative re-workings of popular songs, often in collaboration with singers, hip-hop artists, and other guest instrumentalists.
Allira Wilson is one of Australia’s most exciting young talents, whose musical approach has been described as ‘brave and raw as it is supple and intricate’.
Alliras debut album ‘Rise and Fall’ recently won the Australian Bell Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album 2014 and was recently ABC’s Feature Album of the week.

Originating from country Victoria Luke moved to Perth to complete his studies at WAAPA under the tutelage of Jamie Oehlers and Carl Mackey.
Since then Luke has made a living as a session musician across Perth, recorded a number original albums in 2014 with groups like Fat Sparrow, Career Advice and Drapht while also landing a nomination for WAMI’s best Jazz Composition for 2015.
Luke is also a co-founder of the Perth Jazz Society Big Band debuting originally commissioned works from Vanessa Perica at the 2015 Perth International Jazz Festival. Luke continues to record, release and perform music as both a leader and sidemen around Perth today.
In his career Luke has performed, studied and recorded with artists like Ben Wendel, Troy Roberts, Mace Francis, Dane Alderson, Ed Partyka, Jim Mcneely, Joel Frahm, The Cat Empire, Drapht, Kristin Beradi and many others.
