voxbassduo! with Carrie and Joe

Monday 24 February 7.00pm

The pairing of the voice and bass is a sporadic yet most surprising delicacy that is seriously tasty. Avocado and jam. Mango and peanut butter. Broccoli and Cheetos. Believe it.
CARRIE PEREIRA and JOE SOUTHWELL take to the stage in this unique duo format to present an alluring plethora of songs and mutations, from a re-harmonised Louis Armstrong classic to their #1 road trip sing-along and everything else that happens in between. The relationship between voice and bass will be at the forefront but they’ll also utilise a few musical ruses such as live looping and percussion tracks to enhance the sonic palette of the evening. Nothing is off limits.
Pals from way back, the origins of their acquaintance can be traced to the yearly music production at uni, which haphazardly coincided with their annual week-long friendship. Destiny. The stars were aligning. They’ve since gone on to grace countless stages, floors and barns together.
Carrie is one of WA’s finest and most sought-after professional vocalists with her smooth, soulful sensitivity and powerhouse delivery. Joe shipped his basses over to the UK a year ago where he now resides, but on this quick visit home they’re grabbing the bull by the horns to put on what will certainly be a special performance, seeing them move away from their norm.
They are delighted to be supported on this night by local folk god and good friend, RHYS WOOD.
Rhys is a talented multi-instrumentalist who presents “honest” music with real thoughts, real instruments and real musicians. Much thought goes into every aspect of each song so when you hear it, you are on the end of a long and careful process. (He also happens to be one of Joe’s favourite artists)
See you there!
