The William Pethick Quintet

Monday 23 July 7.00pm

The William Pethick Quintet is a newly formed group lead by trombonist William Pethick. At 19 years of age William Pethick has traveled to San Francisco for the Brubeck Summer School, where he studied with various artists such as Sean Jones, Robin Eubanks and Miguel Zenon. Earlier this year Will was accepted as one of the seven finalist for the James Morrison Scholarship Adjunction. All of the William Pethick Quintet are originally from Perth, however four of the members are studying interstate at the prestigious James Morrison Academy of music. The band will play a combination of originals and arrangements of common jazz repertoire from greats such as Lennie Tristano, Thelonious Monk and Joe Henderson. This band hopes to celebrate the greats in jazz both past and present whilst putting their own spin on the ever developing art form.
